I decided to take a break from social media for a little while, honestly because some people online are just so mean to one another. As a first time mom I’m trying to figure out things like: what diapers to use and are these red dots on her normal or not? I’m in a few mom groups on Facebook and I always wondered why so many people would ask questions or post anonymously. To be honest I thought it was because they wanted to hide behind their screens and then I figured it out. It’s because some people online are just so mean and they don’t want to be judged or shamed more than mommas already do so to themselves. I have a tender heart and after becoming a mom my heart feels more exposed than ever so I had to protect it.

I surrendered my life to God about 8 years ago and ever since then I’ve been trying to figure out what it means to be a follower of Jesus. I’ve asked myself countless times what even is truth? I’ve attended: Methodist, Pentecostal, Baptist, & Non-Denominational churches over my 32 years of life. I’ve seen a lot, followed a lot, and experienced a lot in each of those churches. I’ve just been trying to figure it out. There are so many different denominations and beliefs not just in each denomination but even in churches under the same denomination. A lot of times I’ve attended these different churches either because I was raised in it or someone I trusted went there. All I wanted to do was believe the “right” thing.

There has been so much heaviness in the last few weeks with heinous murders and evil happening all around us. & after a hiatus from social media I decided to get back on and the divisiveness I’ve seen all over social media is even worse than when I got off of here a month ago. As Christians we preach about unity and peace yet it’s from Christians the most I am seeing just the opposite. If we are trying to “win” people to Jesus then why does it matter so much what denomination people have to be? I do believe there are non-negotiables like believing The Gospel. The Bible is clear on that. I don’t believe God intended for there to be so many denominations to choose from. I believe what God intended was for us to worship Him with our whole being, use discernment, & to be unified through Him.

If I’ve learned anything in my walk with God it’s not about being “right” but being love. If we want others to follow after Christ, maybe just maybe all God wanted for us was to love Him and love others. I don’t have to agree with what you do, say, or believe but I am called to love you. & I know that I’ve not done that well. So, on behalf of myself & other believers I am so sorry & I love you. & so does the One who created you.

With love,
Laramie
